AN INTRODUCTION TO THE ENTREPRENEURIAL CLUB
By Bhumika Gandhi
The Entrepreneurship Club is formed by a small group of students at Fairleigh Dickinson University who aspire to be future entrepreneurs. They have weekly meeting wherein they discuss and come up with various innovative ideas for new ventures and business while analyzing its viability. We feel that, FDU has been the great medium as it unites our global body of students. This not only helps for ideas of business, but also business prospects in various countries! Therefore, EC benefits students to network and develop themselves as future upcoming entrepreneurs.
Implementing one of our innovative ideas, the EC team came up with the idea of celebrating Earth day and creating awareness. We wanted something that would first; benefit the FDU community along with the willingness to be friendly to the environment and Secondly; to analyze whether our ideas are really feasible to be practically implemented in the real business world.
The more of our experience will be described by Marcel as below

EC EARTH DAY EVENT 2009
by Marcel Ostrow
We are unique in the sense that our new and small organization was able to manage two full fledged speakers, an EXPO-GARAGE (featuring 150 research pages done by more than 30 sudents on issues regarding recent environmental changes, endangered species and green technological breakthroughs), and an exotic vegetarian food sale just to feed the people attending the speech; the rest was sold at $1 dollar per plate just enough to cover the costs for the food. All this in one compact event that took place on Earth day, Wednesday 22nd 2009 from 11am-6pm.Our members where there from 5 in the morning setting the tarps for protection against Earth day rain, and building the EXPO-GARAGE from its original box. It was an amazing task that involved a lot of planning and cooperation from members of student life, gourmet dinning, the Chinese Association, (who honored us with their presence and participation), and of course, the hard work and dedication of the Entrepreneurial Club (EC) which made this event to raise awareness on Earth Sustainability and Green Entrepreneurship possible.
I want to finish with a quote from Debbie Lawlor (our speaker on sustainability) that said: "Even if one person read and understood a single fact about sustainability; then I have made a difference."Similarly, I can assure each and everyone of you who participated in this Earth Day event that you have made a difference in many different ways. Our event was indeed a success.
You will hear more exciting, fun and challenging events with a touch of healthy entrepreneurship soon enough, if conditions allow. Stay well, and thanks again for everything.
Marcel Ostrow, EC President.
